Folk Dance

Hi guys my name is Sumitra. I like to dance so I am a writing   blog on Goan Dances. Dance is my passion and a future dream to teach dance to the young generation  of Goa to encourage and motivate them in this field. Goan Dance is something special and different for me.The Goan dance have very interesting history and myths. beside food and lifestyle the dances of Goa makes the state fantastic and beautiful.There are many type of folk dances like

1)Dekhni -it is a semi classical dance form, the plural of konkani remains the same. ne of the most famous dekhni songs is Hanv Saiba poltodi vetam by Carlos Eugenio Ferreira first published in Paris in 1895 and then in Goa 1926.one of the earliest dekhnis which may be dated  around 1869 is kuxttoba in which he is called "heir to India and terror of Goa,"implying resistance to Portuguese rule. kuxttoba was a member of the salekar branch of the rane family.

Dekhni  Dance A Perfect Combination Of Song and Dance Representing Culture Of Goa :Dekhni represent the real image of culture of Goa through song and dance. it is also combination of Indian dance and western dance.  dekhni dance is performed by women who dance beautifully. The dance is performed with Ghumat.
